Who am I?Maggie Denise.
Technically, I’m Maggie. But if you know me, you probably know me as Denise.
I’m a wife, mom, grandma, Texas A&M graduate, business owner, and Executive Director of a nonprofit. For more than four decades, I’ve also had the privilege of serving in ministry, teaching Sunday school, leading Bible studies, speaking at women’s events, and working alongside couples, young people, and ministry leaders.
But those roles aren’t really what I want you to know most about me.
I’m someone who loves Jesus and His Word, and who is still learning what it means to live from His grace instead of measuring my relationship with Him by how well I perform.
That journey is a big part of why Unmerited exists.
Why I Founded unmerited.
Unmerited was birthed out of something I believe God had been leading me toward for years. I had always known that salvation comes through faith in Jesus Christ, not through anything I could earn. But I began to see how easily I could still live as though my relationship with God depended on how well I was doing.
The more I understood grace, the more I realized it was not simply the way I entered the Christian life. Grace shapes how I live it. It changes the way I approach God when I fail, the way I understand obedience, and the way I see what Jesus has already accomplished for me.
My desire is for Unmerited to be a place where we can open God’s Word and talk honestly about those things. I want us to understand grace biblically, not as permission to live however we want, but as the gift of God that continually points us back to Jesus.
I’m not a theologian or scholar. I’m simply a longtime student of God’s Word who wants to handle Scripture carefully, keep Jesus at the center, and share what I’m learning along the way.
My hope is that what you find here will help you know Him more deeply, trust what He has said, and rest more fully in what He has already done.
